NXLog is a log management software company based in Budapest, Hungary, founded in 2008. The company provides open-source and commercial log management products for collecting, processing, and analyzing log data from various sources. Its flagship product, NXLog Enterprise Edition, is designed to centralize log management for Windows and Linux servers, network devices, and cloud platforms. NXLog's solutions are used by Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and small to medium-sized businesses globally. At NXLog, I worked as a part of the Add-ons team, rewriting the extant script-based add-ons in Rust. Working with a C core codebase and wrapping Rust around it to make it as ergonomic as possible, I contributed to writing parts of the wrapper Rust library to facilitate modules' development. Here are some of the specifics of the job:1. Working with C and Rust FFI to write modules for the NXLog platform.2. Porting the old synchronous code relying on custom C http libraries to use tokio based http libraries with a custom async Shim layer.3. Wrote two new modules for googlelogging - im_googlelogging and om_googlelogging.4. Contributed to the Rust dev library at NXLog - rewrote our retry and batching logic from scratch, improved OAuth token refresh in rust modules, rewrote records serialization with serde.5. Investigated and fixed bugs extant in previous implementations of caching, SSL, packaging, and batching - worked extensively with GDB for them.6. Wrote a custom test harness from scratch - that incorporated the core NXLog C library and allowed for independent testing of Rust modules without creating a final NXLog binary. This eliminated "configuration testing" time from the QA land, and moved it inside unit test duration.

1. Worked with customers' issues to debug them, do RCAs, and deploy hotfixes in production machines as required. 2. Spearheaded the development of a novel architecture of Metrics aggregation in Logpoint's Operations Monitoring team. Developed the architecture and implemented it with Python and related frameworks3. Developed Customer Normalizer in Rust that speeds up normalization of logs by a factor of around 50.

1. Worked as a certified Logpoint Trainer2. Worked in internal tools development for Customer Success. Built a packet spoofer as a project. 3. Worked with ingesting novel data sources in Logpoint, developed scripts that were used as a jumping-off point for developing more robust plugins by the development team.4. Provided Proof-of-concepts to customers regarding Logpoint's aggregation, analysis and alerting capabilities on wide gamut of log sources.
