After becoming suddenly disabled in 2019, and struggling to come to terms as my life was turned upside down, I found joy through acceptance and recognising that disability is not a bad word. That beauty and happiness can be found because of our disability, not despite it. I believe that while life with a disability isn’t without its challenges, the world needs to change to accommodate the needs of disabled people to enable us to fully participate in society, rather than disregarding a whole sector of humanity as somehow “less than”.Feeling as though I lost my sense of identify, I’m now on a mission to encourage and empower others with a disability to live life “in full colour”.This isn’t my first taste of disability, when I was 15 an accident left me in and out of hospital for a year with no idea if I’d ever walk again. Since then I’ve struggled with my health. This impacted so much on my self esteem that it led to poor choices in life which in turn affected my health. In fact, it’s not until the last few years that I’ve truly found the strength to unpick the damage those early years have done and start to heal. I can truly say now that I’m happier than I’ve ever been.I’m not broken, I’m beautifully imperfect. This journey has forged the woman I see reflected back at me in the mirror and I love & respect her with all my heart. We humans are incredible. We are imperfect. We are strong. We are powerful. And we can change the world. Experienced professional with a demonstrated history of working across multiple industries. Skilled in Public Speaking, Mentoring, Social Media, Writing, Video, Photography, Business Planning, Project Management, Sales, Entrepreneurship, and customer relations.
