Sandile is an experienced business transformation, strategy execution and transaction advisory Partner at EY. He has over twenty-five years of experience spanning governance, transaction execution, strategy, finance, restructuring, leadership and business development.Sandile specializes in key account executive leadership, key pursuits leadership, client service delivery oversight and enabling engagement delivery alignment with the c-suite and board of directors.Before returning to EY, Sandile was the Chief Executive leading the Group Arrangements Division at Liberty Holdings Limited, a Pan Africa insurance company listed on the Johannesburg stock exchange; where he led the M&A expansion of the Liberty Africa Insurance business (both short term & long term insurance operations) into 7 countries across the African continent.He is the former Managing Partner of the EY Africa Region, Strategy and Transactions Service Line. During this period Sandile gained extensive market entry strategy development and implementation, restructuring, capital raising, project finance, mergers and acquisitions experience. He grew the Service Line through a dedicated focus on servicing global multinational companies and global private equity firms that were seeking market entry and acquisitions across the African continent.He is a Chartered Accountant, South Africa CA(SA); holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Accountancy and a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.

Sandile was the Chief Executive leading the Group Arrangements Division at Liberty Holdings Limited; which division brought under a single leadership structure all business units focusing on corporate, institutional and group customer markets in Africa. The division encompassed the Liberty Corporate, Liberty Africa Insurance, Liberty Viewpoint and Liberty Health business operations across Africa; tasked with spearheading growth through acquisition across the African continent.Sandile was a member of the Liberty Holdings Executive Committee and he was the Chairman of Liberty Health Holdings (Pty) Ltd and Liberty Viewpoint (Pty) Ltd, which were wholly owned subsidiaries of Liberty Holdings Ltd that provided Pan Africa health insurance cover and employee benefits consulting services; respectively. He also sat on the board of directors of Liberty Kenya Holdings Limited, Liberty Holdings Namibia (Pty) Ltd, Liberty Holdings Botswana (Pty) Ltd and Total Health Trust (Pty) Ltd in Nigeria.The Group Arrangements Division was tasked with spearheading growth into group customer segments across Africa through acquisitions and distribution expansion across Africa.

Sandile was the Managing Partner leading the EY Africa Strategy and Transactions team; the team advised capital markets leaders and c-suite executives on Africa Region market entry and acquisitions across the Capital Agenda value chain; with regards to Raising capital, Investing capital, Preserving capital and Optimizing capital. He was a member of the EY Africa Region Executive Leadership team and the Europe, Middle East, India & Africa (EMEIA) Area Strategy and Transactions Executive Leadership team; with extensive market entry strategy, mergers & acquisitions, capital & debt advisory, project finance, business turnaround and restructuring experience. During his time at EY, Sandile advised various private equity, investment holding companies and global multinational companies that were seeking investment opportunities in high growth sectors across Africa.

Sandile was the Partner leading the KPMG South Africa Government Sector and Restructuring Transaction Advisory Service Line. He was a member of the KPMG South Africa Board of Directors with extensive black economic empowerment (BEE), Corporate Turnaround & Transaction experience.He served for 6 years (2009 to 2014) as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Turnaround Management Association of Southern Africa (TMA-SA), and for another 2 years (2014 to 2015) as the none executive Chairman of TMA-SA; which is a professional association for business rescue and turnaround professionals in Southern Africa.He has extensive professional experience in both the public and private sector, spread over the disciplines of business strategy, business operations, corporate funding, transaction advisory, the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in leveraging business strategy and operations, black economic empowerment strategy development and implementation,corporate turnaround independent business reviews, corporate turnaround strategic cash generation, financial restructuring, corporate turnaround planning and implementation, business exit planning and implementation, business process improvement and management.He has extensive management industry experience in corporate & investment banking, socio economic development and funding, digital data casting and television broadcasting, ICT, retail, construction, mining, investment and manufacturing.He was the Lead Partner for the annual KPMG BEE Survey into BEE transformation within businesses in South Africa and was responsible for conceptualising and delivering the first survey in 2006, which was recognised by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as a positive contribution towards promoting BEE transformation in South Africa.

Sandile was the partner leading the Restructuirng & BEE Transaction Advisory unit with full responsibilityof the service line income statement performance and revenue growth.He was also responsible for the recruitment, retention and development of experienced professional staff for the restructuring & BEE transaction advisory service line.He led the development and implementation of the business development and operational strategy for the restructuring & BEE transaction advisory service line.He led business development for the restructuring & BEE transaction advisory service line and maintained a high market presence and awareness of the corporate restructuring & BEE transaction advisory services team.

Sandile was responsible for the full HR function of the business unit including HR strategy implementation and monitoring. He led a team of 10 BEE Transaction Services professionals and a team of 8 People and Change Management professionals in wining and delivering advisory solutions engagements to the public and private sector.He also led the researching, documentation and publishing of the annual KPMG BEE Survey; which he conceptualized and launched in August 2006He fulfilled the role of engagement partner on all BEE advisory, People and Change Management engagements including risk management, quality assurance, stakeholder management and engagement team leadership.

Sandile was responsible for the establishment of a BEE Services product offering including business plan development, presentation to EXCO and the implementation of the business plan. He also recruited a team to deliver the product offering. He was also responsible for the development and implementation of a business development and marketing strategy.He was the Project Manager for key business performance services engagements relating to business process improvement and organizational design.

JANUARY 2003 – JULY 2005: SENIOR MANAGER – CUSTOMER INTEGRATIONSandile was tasked with programme managing key customer integration & business transaction process improvement and operational system implementation projects across the bank.This required detailed knowledge of banking operational processes and systems; sound customer strategy insight, articulation and implementation; solid business process investigation, analysis and optimization of key channels and product platforms with the objective of improving customer banking experience. He led the development of a customer centric operation strategy and business model. He also led in the selling of this strategy to key business stakeholders and initiating projects to deliver customer strategic objectives.JULY 2001 – DECEMBER 2002: SENIOR MANAGER – LENDING PRODUCTSSandile led the business process improvement team within the Lending Products business unit and led in the establishment of the process improvement team by recruiting 2 managers.The team was responsible for business process investigation, analysis and optimisation of lending products and delivery channels with the objective of deriving improved product economics and profitability. This required a good understanding of Lending Products business.He led in the transferring skills and motivation of the managers in the role of supporting the business unit Director in optimising his business.

Sandile was an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software packages and business process improvement specialist. He led in new business development, project management and end user training.His team was responsible for business process mapping and analysis; conducting ERP packages functionality fit analysis and documentation.The team also provided ERP implementation and post implementation support services.Sandile was also a member of the Public sector programme management panel.

Sandile performed company external auditing, systems documentation, testing, audit planning and review.He was responsible for reporting audit findings to the Audit Partner and client management.
