On an average weekday more than 1 million people travel by train and use the services of NS. NS is continuously working on all necessary improvements to ensure quality journey for the travelers. One of the programs (Besturing 3.0) to accomplish this goal is the development and implementation of a new integrated solution to support the daily operations management of crew, equipment and schedules. In order to interconnect the involved new and existing applications (internal and external) a WebSphere ESB solution is being developed by the IBM development team at NS. The environment is highly available with dual data center.

The OPSBankII application at Reed Elsevier implements business processes related to print media business for Reed Elsevier. The application processes colossal amount of data everyday and it must continue functioning 24X7 to prevent any backlog and keep up with the load. The assignment was to validate the application and infrastructure against its performance requirements, identify bottlenecks and propose necessary changes to reach the required performance.As a performance architect, I set up methodology for governed Performance Test Phase. Executed performance analysis through analyzing system behavior, thread-dumps, business logic and used WebSphere PMI, Oracle AWR reports and other tools. Based on analysis recommended application changes to meet target throughput requirement, executed proof of concept and led development team in implementing these changes. I led WebSphere Application Server, Process Server and Portal Server tuning.

Goal of the project was to achieve high availability and flexible scalability for future growth by migrating SmartTV Portal services to Cloud environment.I was responsible for defining the architecture of various sub-systems of the SmartTV platform and leading the implementation based on the defined architecture. The project became a global reference project for IBM SmartCloud Enterprise+ (SCE+).I designed operational model for various sub-systems such as Relational Database (DB2 with HADR + TSA) for automated disaster recovery, Directory (Tivoli Directory Server Master-Slave), Portal (WebSphere Cluster) by following IBM Method. I took various architectural decisions and designed the sub-systems to achieve high availability and scalability. I led the team of specialists in China through the implementation and team of testers from Lithuania during test phase. I addressed bottlenecks during implementation phase and made sure of timely delivery in production. Performed go-live planning and coordination during execution.

IBM designed and implemented the desired business processes in the new AH Plaza portal using WebSphere Portal and IBM web content management. The portal provides access to a personalized work environment for all AH employees in the stores. the distribution centers and Corporate employees. It targets personalized information, like delivery notifications, news, work schedule and tasks. It also provides on demand access to various digital manuals and access to various applications (such as salary slip) using single sign on.I was responsible for the architecture and solutions to address the requirements. I also managed and led a team of developers in Netherlands, India and China through implementation. Introduced Continuous Integration (CI) for improved productivity and quality. I ensured timely production delivery by tracking of the progress and quality of deliverables. I also performed risk analysis and mitigation actions with management.
