About Sandipan Dhar

I am presently engaged as a research fellow in the Dept. of Applied Physics, University of Calcutta under the supervision of Prof. Dr. MadhuchhandaMitra, Dept. of Applied Physics,University of Calcutta. The topic of my research is entitled as“Bio-Signal Acquisition, Compression, Encryption and Classification”.I am also appointed as a guest lecturer in the same department. Currently, I have submitted my doctoral thesis.Motivation of the research: The global incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) fatalities has been escalating in recent decades. Early detection of CVD and prompt medical intervention not only saves lives but also reduces medication costs. Extensive scientific efforts have led to the development of handy, portable, and battery-operated health monitoring devices. To ensure simplicity and applicability on modern devices, researchers are employing cutting-edge computational techniques to design highly effective, robust, and automated algorithms. Bio-signals have proven to be valuable diagnostic tools for CVD, making their analysis through automated algorithms crucial for accurate CVD identification and controlling mortality rates.Brief of research work: Bio-signals (ECG, PPG) are collected involving healthy control and patients having cardiovascular diseases in large scale from departmental lab, hospitals and research institutes using Biopac MP 150/160 and portable device like Biopac MP 36/45 for analysis. Data can also be obtained from publicly accessible data bank from reliable websites. Different standard filtering techniques are imposed on those acquired or obtained data to eliminate undesired high and low frequency noises, thereby the task of analyzing data becomes easier and prominent. Afterwards, data compression and encryption techniques are employed for enhancing storage capacity and securing patients’ heart condition from unsolicited accessing during transmission respectively. Apart from these, various features are extracted from bio-signals in order to classify numerous cardiovascular diseases or separate healthy control from diseased subjects automatically on software level. The entire module of feature extraction and classification can be implementable in modern health care devices for fast, easy and automated disease detection. The involvement of cloud computation in tele-cardiology application may also be included in my future research work.Now, I am looking for an opportunity to contribute and enrich my knowledge and experience by joining the field regarding my skills and interest.With regards.
