Project 1: “Investigate phenotypic and molecular changes occurring from hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection of primary human hepatocytes.”In this project we have identified the involvement of HCV in induction of epithelial mesenchymal transition which is responsible for progression to hepatocellular carcinoma. Findings have been published in Journal of Virology 2012.Project 2: “Elucidate the mechanisms of HCV induced insulin resistance.”In this project we have identified that HCV activates the mTOR/S6K1 pathway in mediating insulin resistance. The findings have been published in Journal of Virology 2012. Project 3: “Understand the mechanisms of impairment of lipid metabolism by HCV.”In this project we have identified two key transcription factors namely FoxO1 and FoxA2, which are modulated by HCV for lipid metabolism disorder. Findings from this study have been published in Journal of Virology 2014.I worked on in vitro assays like western blotting, real time pcr, ELISA, Immunofluorescence, luciferase assay, confocal microscopy and related molecular and cell biology techniques.
