As country general manager of the largest unit of Asia’s leading DMC (Destination Management Company) I was responsible for the people, the figures and the operation in Vietnam. I had a multicultural team of 200+ ft staff in 4 offices across the country. I had a multicultural team of 200+ ft staff in 4 offices across the country. Annual revenue was around $43mln.B2B I fostered strong relations with our international tour operators clients, both online and at the global travel fairs.Results:*Pre-COVID I analysed and adjusted teams and workflow of this 25-year old company, resulting in annual profit going 17% over-budget, next to giving opportunities to potential junior members to lead and shine.*COVID stopped 95% of arrivals and revenue. I directly created and implemented a survival strategy reducing expenses (and team..) with 80%. Including a set-up to rehire those we had to let go asap. This was a very, very painful period.*People-side; before but also during the COVID drama I managed as a GM to plot a clear and honest HR-course of which a lot was copied to other countries in the EXO Travel Group.EXO Travel aka ‘the travel company based on technology’ is considered by tour operators and competitors alike as the leading premier DMC (destination management company/ inbound travel company) in Indochina, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore. Running the Myanmar (Burma) unit of EXO Travel, Asia's leading DMC. The same role as in Vietnam on a slightly smaller scale. Some 150 ft staff, revenues around $25 mln. And a completely different government situation... Achievements:*First period; evaluated team and workflow and executed improvements leading to a 6% increase of the annual net profit.
