Intern

Madison, Wisconsin Area

300 hours completed.During my internship at the Madison Police Department, I gained valuable insights into handling emergency calls, understanding call protocols, and navigating the intricacies of booking procedures. The day-to-day ride-alongs with police officers exposed me to the fast-paced environment, where I learned to be proactive, prepared for any situation, and demonstrated adaptability. As the first intern to hold this position, I had extensive ride-along experiences, surpassing those of any previous intern. This unique opportunity allowed me to contribute effectively to the police department while gaining an incredible learning experience.I also showcased my language skills by being available for Spanish translation when needed, filling a crucial role within the department.Additionally, I spearheaded a project for the Community Policing Team (CPT) involving the testing and evaluation of three different ID scanners. I meticulously recorded results from fake and real IDs, utilizing popular city bar scanners and a mobile app. Through my work, I identified the app as the most effective due to its ease, portability, and a remarkable 90% accuracy rate in identifying fake and real IDs. Leveraging the MPD system, I cross-verified the IDs and scanners, managing about 50 IDs in a three-day project and maintaining detailed data on an Excel spreadsheet.
