Over the past 28 years, I have built a diverse and fulfilling career with General Motors in manufacturing. For two decades, I dedicated myself to the foundry industry, holding positions at different levels across three locations. This journey exposed me to a wide range of melting and casting practices. In addition, I expanded my expertise in metal stamping at two GM sites and delved into plastic injection molding and vehicle general assembly. Throughout, my passion for fostering teamwork and nurturing talent has propelled me to leadership roles in five distinct plants. As the Site Manager at the GM Brownstown Battery Assembly Plant (January 2021 to June 2023), I led the plant's growth to support seven new EV and AV programs. Notable accomplishments include expanding the UAW workforce from 24 to 280 employees, developing a salaried structure for launches, and creating solutions to meet demanding production ramp schedules while pivoting to handle rapid design changes. This allowed the plant to maintain production and engineering validation schedules while addressing significant materials challenges, without disruption to key customers. In previous roles, I enhanced production throughput in General Assembly Shift at Spring Hill Vehicle Assembly Operation during the successful launch of the 2020 Cadillac XT6. I improved machine uptime and quality at Defiance Casting Operations and optimized maintenance operations, saving costs. Moreover, my experience in lean manufacturing, global supply chain management, and environmental operations further adds to my diverse skill set.Throughout my career, I've actively embraced leadership and mentoring roles. Within General Motors, I had the privilege of leading the GM Women (in Manufacturing) and GM Latino Network. I co-founded the non-profit STEM Foundation, "Get WISE – Get Women In Science and Engineering," with a mission to educate middle-school girls about STEM careers. My 17-year involvement recruiting for GM foundries at the FEF College Industry Conference was instrumental.I have been a dedicated member of the American Foundry Society (AFS), contributing as a National Director on the AFS Board, speaker at AFS Women in Metalcasting events, and Recording Secretary for local chapters in Michigan and Ohio. My dedication extends to the Foundry Educational Foundation (FEF), where I served as a Board Member and contributed to the Educational Committee. Sharing my knowledge, I served as an Adjunct Professor at Delta College in Midland, MI for three semesters, teaching Basic Metallurgy in the Skilled Trades program.
