College experience:• As Academic Coordinator of the Higher Education Opportunity Program at the Rochester Institute of Technology, it was my responsibility to instruct, counsel, provide academic advisement, financial aid information and coordinate tutorial support for this population. I conducted college survival and study skills workshops and taught a course on “Becoming a Master Student”. I assisted students with career choices by administering and interpreting the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator, LASSI (Learning and Study Strategies Inventory), COPS Interest Inventory, The Discovery Wheel and Strong Campbell Interest Inventory.• At RIT during the pre-freshmen summer program where I taught classes for reading, writing, and study skills, I also had a caseload of 15 students. Subjects of our sessions included goals, aspirations, roadblocks that might occur, personal issues with room-mates, conflict resolution and whatever else was helpful for each student to discuss. As academic coordinator I was also assigned students with disabilities. I worked closely with the Special Services Department.• At Monroe Community College I was advisor to students in the PACE (Public Assistance Comprehensive Education Program. This involved working with a population on public assistance in a “Get an education and get a job” type of program that was federally funded.• While a Learning Disabilities Specialist at MCC, I coordinated in-house service providers; counselors, tutors and transitional studies instructors • I worked in the Alternative Learning Program at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where I read psychological evaluations and academic evaluations for incoming students with learning disabilities.• I am an adjunct and taught graduate education courses at Medaille College in Literacy and special education. • This fall at SUNY Fredonia, I am teaching a course in Early Childhood Inclusive Education.
