Hello! My name is Sandra and I am currently working as a middle grades teacher, servicing students with varied exceptionalities. My previous roles included data analysis and vendor management at Optum. In my most recent role at Optum, I helped the business stay apprised of the many changes or problems that may occur with vendors and their critical business applications. Prior to that, I analyzed data for Optum and their Integrated Help Desk in order to provide better service to their clients and lower incident volume. My core competencies in these roles included communicating and reporting any issues with vendors and steps taken to solve problems, information gathering, creating spreadsheets in Excel, manipulating data, brainstorming innovative solutions to discovered incidents, presenting data through the use of tables, graphs, and Powerpoint presentations, and working with a team to solve complex problems.My previous positions in the teaching industry include teaching various subjects and grade levels with 15 years experience working in the classroom. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from USF in 2007. Following graduation, I earned my teaching certificate for grades K-6/ESOL endorsement. I was hired in an elementary school following my teaching practicum and taught grades 2, 3, and 5 for ten years. While teaching in elementary school I was also involved in SES tutoring as well as summer school for students requiring remediation. For the 2017 school year I became certified to teach middle grades science and taught 8th grade comprehensive science. Since 2017 I remained in middle school until my career change and have taught grades 6 and 7 in addition to 8th. I recently became certified to teach Earth Space Science to grades 6-12. I have experience teaching students with disabilities as well as students whose primary language is not English. I am skilled in the use of various computer programs such as Office 365, Microsoft Office, Canvas, Zoom, and Powerpoint and enjoyed being part of the LEGO robotics program during my years teaching elementary school. My core competencies include creative lesson planning, designing and administering assessments, incorporating technology in the classroom, and classroom management.
