I have been teaching 35 years, across the entire primary age range. Some colleagues may remember me as Sandra Bailey. I have worked in a range of schools across Norfolk and Suffolk, and have a wide management experience. I recently took early retirement from classroom teaching for personal reasons, but I am still hoping to find new opportunities in education which build on my expertise.My key skills are linked to Literacy. I worked for many years with Sue Lloyd and gained a great deal of knowledge in how to teach effective phonics, before the publication of the Jolly Phonics scheme. I have used this knowledge to support children as SENCO in two schools, as a nurture group teacher and as a 1:1 tutor. I have always set high standards in the teaching of writing skills, using a structured approach to the teaching of spelling, punctuation, handwriting and extended writing. I have a thorough understanding of grammatical principles and my last set of KS2 results at Heartsease Primary reflect this, with 39% at L5, in a school which many may regard as set within a disadvantaged area. Cross-curricular writing, particularly linked to history, is another of my strengths.
