More than three in five (62%) teens say prescription pain relievers are easy to get from their parents’ medicine cabinets.Over half of teens (52%) say that prescription pain relievers are available everywhere. In 2007, approximately 27,000 unintentional drug overdose deaths occurred in the United States. One death every 19 minutes. Between 2000 and 2009 there was a 91% increase in poisoning deaths among 15- to 19-year-old children.
