Education has always been very important in my life, but when I graduated high school I decided to work full time to help out at home and put my educational career on hold. I worked in varying industries such as retail and manufacturing, I often peaked in my positions but could go any further because I hadn’t earned a bachelor’s degree. I never felt like I had reached my full potential and after I had my daughter I decided it was time to fulfill my educational goals. I enrolled at East Los Angeles Community College, but as a single mother being a full-time student, and running a household proved to be difficult. I had to learn time management, adaptability, and efficient problem-solving skills to be able to be successful both at home and at school. After a few years, I was able to earn 4 different Associates Degrees in Business Administration, Economics, and two more in General Studies, as well as graduating Cum Laude. I transferred to California State Univerisity, Dominguez Hills I was an honor student and was able to graduate Cum Laude as well. Through this journey, I have taught my daughter that we are not defined by where we come from nor by our struggles but by how we overcome them.After graduating I was able to find a position at the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority where I have gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience in Human Resources. I look forward to my career in this sector and being an asset to the Human Resources team.
