The Learning Specialist facilitates leadership and staff development training across the UPMC organization. After monitoring and managing assessments of the effectiveness of learning, this role assists in the design, development and implementation of new in-person and live-virtual learning experiences and development programs.

In the role of Senior Program Manager, I was responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the New Choices, GROW, RISE, Re-entry and Customer Service First Class (a partnership with Development Dimensions International) programs. In addition to management responsibilities, I provided supervision, hiring and training for the New Choices program regional facilitation staff. I served as a year-round facilitator for the New Choices and Customer Service programs and introduced the first online course delivery for the organization and provided insight and direction for new curriculum resources.

As a staff development specialist my role contributed to the success of the campus community by designing, delivering and facilitating professional development programs and services for university staff and faculty. Areas of Design: Priority Management, Decision Making, Working with Others (team building and dynamics) and the Year One Initiatives (helping first year staff and faculty acclimate to the university) as well as Project Coordinator for the University Learning Partners Initiative

Success Strategies Session: Coached and assisted the Year One Specialist in designing a session aimed at ways to maximize transitions for university staff members into new positions/roles. Assisted the Program Director with facilitation of the session. Departmental Outreach Program: Designed and co-facilitated with the Program Director an on-boarding program that provided departmental representatives with information about how to prepare for the arrival of new staff members, successful on-boarding strategies and supportive ways to assist the arriving staff member.
