Manager-Senior Civil Rights InvestigatorCity Of Omaha Aug 2015 - Dec 2023United States• Manage major functions of the Human Rights Department investigations, which include employment discrimination covered by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and other federal laws prohibiting discrimination. Supervises the work of four of seven employees in intake, investigators, and the front desk clerical staff. • Assigns work, establishes deadlines, and trains and monitors the performance of subordinates. Develop action plans for subordinates and follow up to ensure compliance. Recommends disciplinary actions for subordinates. Approve time off requests and timesheets. Review staff investigation summaries for accuracy and completeness and accept or reject the recommended determinations. Mediate employment for cause finding complaints and the conciliation of complaints for housing, employment, and public accommodations. Develop damages analysis documents. Prepare training materials and participate in fair housing and employment events as a presenter/and or facilitator to bring about awareness of discrimination and equal employment opportunity. Develop and implement policy and procedures for investigating employment, housing, and public accommodations complaints. Periodic file reviews with subordinates on investigations and make recommendations and/or provide direction if needed. • Prepare monthly reports on federal work performance. Conduct on-site visits to monitor compliance on agreements with the department and maintain documentation and reporting. Reviews intake complaints for jurisdiction and/or recommend changes, if needed, and approves. Approve the subpoenas, when needed. Review and analyze reconsideration requests and determine the merits of the request. Prepare and submit vouchers for reimbursements for payment on work completed on federal contracts each fiscal year. Prepare budget projections for civil rights enforcement. Title VII law enforcement officer. Interview and hire staff and some onboarding. -
