About Sandra Morrison
BACKGROUNDSince November 2021 I have been part of New College Lanarkshire College Motherwell Campus. I specialise in Business and Accounting HNC/HND. I also deliver ILM courses and bespoke managemwnt courses to commercial clients. I worked between 2017-2021 at Edinburgh College s specialising in Accounting to HND students.Prior to that I was lecturing in Business (Finance Specialism) in HE and prior to that I was teaching English (A-level and GCSE) all at Canterbury College. I moved into the educational sector after gaining most of my experience and qualifications from working in the Financial Services Sector. I also was a Volunteer Tutor for Adult Literacy and Numeracy for the three years before moving to Canterbury which fired my passion to be involved in Higher Education. Whilst completing my post graduate studies I worked in both the University of Strathclyde and University of West of Scotland assisting students with disabilities to obtain degrees through working as a note taker, mentor or non-medical personal helper. I have also developed my customer service skills through working for an Events Company and also Marks and Spencer.WHAT I DO NOWI currently lecture in Accounting opening the minds to the joys of finance and numbers. I love this as it allows me to work with students in achieving their potential and also developing my own knowledge in my chosen field. I work in the Higher Education field.WHO I WORK WITHI work with experienced and knowledge academics which provides me with new challenges and develops my skills in the area of accounting and finance as well as education in general. In particular June Wigfield,Lynn Loudon, Katrina Pughh, Suki Kaur and John Ogden.PERSONAL NOTEI was a Volunteer Mentor with Princes’ Trust when living in Canterbury which enabled me to work with young people (18-25) who have been out of work/education for more than 12 months and help them to decide where they would like to move into. Once settled in Edinburgh I wil begin volunteering again.In the past I have always volunteered in areaswhere I can assist people to develop skills and knowledge or help them improve their lives.

I have completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Research Methods with my optional modules being International and Corporate Banking. I am currently completing my dissertation to obtain my MSc Research Methods My dissertation subject is Financial Literacy, I am looking to see if this has improved, remained the same or got worse since the large scale survey carried out in 2006. Non Medical Personal Helper
I am working as NMPH which involves me helping two disabled students attend their course at University. They are both in first year studying Community Education. I work on a 1-2-1 basis with a wheelchair bound student and this is my second academic year working with her.
