The librarians are responsible for the accuracy, clarity, organization, and distribution of all music performed by the Orchestra, including chamber works, and music used for auditions. It requires knowledge of ranges, transpositions, and the sometimes arcane notational conventions for all instruments of the orchestra.

The Adirondack Wind Ensemble is a professional musical ensemble of wind and percussion instruments comprised of music educators and other outstanding community musicians from around the North Country.

We are a collection of professional and semi-professional musicians along with other professionals who get together and perform the best literature written for wind ensemble. From two to thirteen winds, with the occasional guest string artists, we bring Harmoniemusik to the Upper West Side and other venues across the five boroughs.

A music preparation and personal library service for clients and their artist management companies. I founded this company in 1993 and then formed a general partnership in 1998. We have handled a diverse array of clients who present their works with symphony orchestras in the U.S. and abroad.

Marcato is the quarterly publication of the Major Orchestra Librarians' Association. It has a subscriber base of approximately 300 member organizations, individuals, and music publishers. The Editor-In-Chief is the chair of the Marcato committee, which is a team of colleagues who proof-read and assemble each newsletter. The EIC is responsible for the content and recruiting of writers for each issue, and ensuring that each issue is published in a timely manner.

Worked with Festival Music Director Gerard Schwarz and other guest conductors in research to ensure timely arrival of performance materials for the festival orchestra's concerts in New York and Tokyo. This involved coordination between Music Director's main orchestra library in Seattle and communicating with the various artist managers representing the guest conductors. Arranged for works still under copyright to be rented from the appropriate U.S. music publisher. Provided accurate instrumentation and stage plots for use by personnel manager and operations manager. Broke down programs after each concert and returned music to their respective sources. Followed through with subsequent invoices in order for vendors to be paid on time. Prepare all music used for live performances and recording sessions for the the Cincinnati Symphony and Cincinnati Pops Orchestras. Over the course of 4.5 years I did database entry into OLIS (Orchestra Library Information System) and manipulated that data to provide repertoire reports for management and the American Symphony Orchestra League. Much experience was acquired by observing the process we went through with new usage rights for film music, working with estates to receive permission to arrange works under copyright in order to make some of those recording projects happen. I also supported the principal librarian in her administrative duties by submitting programs to ASCAP and BMI every month and checking in and filing rental music paperwork. I was also involved in training part-time library workers which led to my developing a library employee handbook, and guiding library volunteers by keeping them focused on their project goals and developing potential for those who demonstrated interest. It was my first professional library job after college, and it was a challenging and extremely valuable work experience that led me to excel in the field of orchestra librarianship. Show less

Provided musical accompaniment for plays in repertory including Entr'acte and incidental music. Along with performing in our own "pit" area, at times we were required to perform onstage in costume. Other productions required us to memorize music so that we could walk around the audience as we played in order to stay synchronized with the actor singing. Sometimes I went offstage into the woods in order to deliver a bugle call.
