Various exploration activities at Turquoise Ridge and Spring Valley. Core and RC logging, a bit of mapping here and there, mentoring younger geologists, chaperoning visiting geologists as needed, cross-sections galore, working with massive (large) spreadsheets, on-call occasionally for drilling contractors, figuring out if drill holes were hitting the target by way of Vulcan, and dodging haboobs (you never know when they will descend on Lovelock, NV). Oh, and I was the NITON manager for a couple years.

Ely, Nv

Working at Robinson Mine. Core and chip logging, managing and babysitting 2-3 drill rigs, drill hole targeting, mapping, drilling the Keystone Dump with a hammer rig, drilling tailings beneath and around the Ruth Pit lake with a floating drill rig (I'm still a little sea sick!), the occasional cursing at certain drillers.

Florida Canyon Mine

Logging and rig sitting for grid-drilling program on several Standard Mine projects south of Florida Canyon: Star, South Pit, North Pit, and Buffalo Canyon. Some mapping, sampling, and early-stage regional recon.

California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, with occasional forays into Arizona, Idaho, New Mexico, and Colorado. Sneaking on to the Mesquite Mine. Getting carded in Tehachapi by a sixteen-year-old. Had a beer or two after getting stuck in sand shot through with numerous rabbit holes north of the lovely oasis of Baker, CA. Lots of recon, lots of mapping, lots of drilling, a bit of discovery (ore deposit on top of Mineral Ridge near Silver Peak, NV). Driving, flying, ATM four-wheeling, a little fishing.

Uranium and gold exploration in Nevada and California, recon, sampling, mapping, drilling, managing as many as 5 rigs at once, running electric/gamma downhole logger, flying around in helicopters, spending a night out in the Toquima Range in October when the pilot forgot to pick me up, numerous other adventures, including: got stuck in mud at Hog Ranch, drank one beer at the old Frontier in Big Smoky Valley once upon a time...
