In June, 2015 I was named Program Director of Early Childhood Services for North Family Center. My primary responsibilities included improving staff/director relations and increasing funding sources for NFC. As a result of my efforts, NFC was able to implement an Outdoor Classroom designed for hands on learning. The Outdoor Classroom emphasizes Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, and includes a STEM lab.In December 2016, I was named Family Services Director. While also continuing as Program Director of Early Childhood Services, my role has expanded into coordinating services that benefit families within eight counties of greater Midland. Services such as the Diaper Alliance, Back Pack Giveaway, Food Pantry, Clothing Pantry, and Sharing Tree have been added to my area of oversight.I have also developed strong service and financial relationships within the community including Dow Chemical, Chemical Bank, United Way, and Midland Evangelical Free Church to the benefit of Greater Midland Community Center.

As Early Childhood Services Coordinator, I was given direct oversight of the childcare portion of the Coleman Family Center. I was responsible of all State of Michigan licensing requirements; passing renewal inspection in April 2015. I also gained a working knowledge of State of Michigan funding policies with the Great Start to Readiness Program (GSRP). I also worked directly with Early Care in Education overseeing the budget for private funding of 3’s scholarship programming. I worked with the Preschool Quality Assessment Program (PQA), earning a high quality assessment score for state funded preschool programs. I gave direct oversight to the Before and After School Program. I also worked directly with the school cook, giving oversight to state requirements for the food program. I am certified in Serve Safe, a licensing program for food safety. I wrote and received grant money to implement a school garden, teaching the students about the food process from seed to harvest. I was responsible for direct oversight of the Outdoor Classroom grant, implementing a nature playground.

I worked a business plan, growing an in-home daycare center caring for 12 children. I transitioned the center from home to a commercial business location in 2008 and became the Owner/ Program Director of Golden Rule Preschool and Childcare Center, LLC. The center cared for and provided curriculum for 33 children, ages birth through six years.

As Program Director, I grew the preschool program from five enrolled students to 20 for three and four year old classes. I was also responsible for selecting and developing a preschool kindergarten readiness curriculum, and for directing and providing oversight to the before and after school care program.

During this time period, I held various positions including raising children, in-home childcare provider, substitute teacher for Midland Christian School and Midland Public School systems.

I was lead teacher in the three and four year old preschool classrooms. I assisted the program director in teaching 10 classes per week. I was also responsible for direct oversight of the before and after school care program.
