Sandra is an endorsed Educational & Developmental Psychologist (MAPS), qualified functional medicine practitioner, special educator and hypnotherapist. Her unique skillset offers hope and scope to move people of all ages and stages through the barriers to their success. The capacity of thoughts to make or break you, has fostered Sandra's interest in the mind/brain interface, the power of placebo and psycho-neuro-immunology. Always fascinated by the frontiers of science and human brain potential, Sandra resists the tendencies within her profession to limit people with labels believing that behind every label there's a context- oftentimes a trauma or set of epigenetic variables which may be malleable to change. Sandra's career spans 20+ years in educational and counselling psychology working with children, adolescents and adults. Specialising in neurodevelopmental differences Sandra has trained in the assessment and support of ADHD, learning difficulties, giftedness, autism spectrum. Utilising nutritional medicine protocols for mental health Sandra believes in and seeks to assist clients towards optimal individual brain function. In 2017, Sandra was the recipient of the NSW Anika Premier’s Teaching Award Scholarship, enabling her to travel abroad and deepen her study in the pillars of brain health optimisation: diet, exercise, mindfulness and cognitive training. After lengthy research into the Canadian Arrowsmith Program (specifically designed to target cognitive weaknesses) Sandra is pleased to endorse the program's proven potential to facilitate brain change for individuals struggling with attention, working memory, language processing and abstract reasoning.Sandra has been a dedicated foster mum with lived experience of the challenges associated with parenting children impacted by trauma. Her dedication to children experiencing disadvantage/disability and comprehensive understanding of the Disability Discrimination Act has enabled Sandra to become a strong advocate for families seeking differentiated learning support options in schools.Sandra's belief in the scope of psychology to transform lives is central to her work. She seeks evidence and truth in science- is a member of Australians for Science and Freedom and the Cape Byron Lighthouse Declaration. Sandra enjoys opportunities to present and share her expertise with clients and colleagues and offers clinical supervision through the College of Professional Psychologists.
