Most of my career has involved helping people become healthy. My mother had type 2 diabetes and struggled with other health problems so I guess it made an impression on me. My father lost his sister to a childhood disease so was very conscious of the value of good health. They paved my path to becoming a sports nutritionist/dietitian. I've always loved the outdoors. I grew up riding horses, training dogs, hiking and skiing. My father was a big influence on me. He encouraged us to do pull-ups in middle school, and showed by example the importance of staying physically fit by taking us on hiking and skiing trips throughout our young lives. I've worked as a Public Health Nutritionist, a hospital dietitian in nursing homes and community hospitals, Nutrition Consultant for Oregon State University Athletics and Gymnastics team, had my own business called Sports Nutrition and Diet Counseling and worked with Hispanic Migrant families to improve their nutritional health. I am married and my husband, Mark and I have a son, Brett.Now retired, I've found a passion for turning my love for horses into art. I paint with watercolors and acrylics, and sculpt ceramic Raku horses. I've sold my work in various art galleries and gift shops. I have two Arabians, two dogs and two cats and live on a small 10 acre ranch on the east side of the Willamette Valley near Corvallis, Oregon. We grow hay and have a greenhouse and several large gardens of flowers and vegetables.
