About Sandra Walsh (Ph.D.)
I am an internationally published author in the field of Software Engineering with over ten years research experience in Computer Science and other related fields. Throughout my career I have developed expertise in research project management, research methods design, implementation and validation which involves sourcing, collecting, organising, validating, synthesising and presenting large amounts of qualitative and quantitative research data. As a direct result of my work in agile requirements engineering, I have secured and presented a number of publications at international peer-reviewed conferences worldwide. For the past five years, I have been working as a scientific editor. This role involves providing substantive editing, peer review and journal selection expertise services. I frequently work with English as a second language (ESL) authors and organisations aiming to get published by English speaking conferences and scientific journals worldwide. My work also involves certain amount of administration, cover letter writing, editing grant proposals and cross checking responses to reviewer/editor comments. To date, I have edited, structured and organised more than 850 research papers spanning a broad range of disciplines including Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Humanities and Medicine. Research Background:My early research career was dedicated to examining the root cause of Requirements Engineering (RE) challenges in software engineering research and industrial practice. More specifically, I focused on examining the set of human-related factors that affect the communication of requirements in RE, primarily with a view to re-creating the conditions under which requirements are successfully communicated on software projects in practice. This valuable experience motivated the development of a unique perspective on the concept of generating lean value stream interactions between multiple diverse stakeholder groups involved on software projects. My doctorate concentrated on developing OpenXP, an evolutionary framework for agile RE which comprised an entirely unique combination of three existing methods 1) Open Space Technology (OST), 2) Scenario-based development and 3) eXtreme Programming (XP). The OpenXP solution is the first of its kind to offer direct hands-on support for agile practitioners in formulating a communication-centric approach to achieving effective and efficient interactions for collaborative requirements engineering in agile software development.
Listed skills include Agile Methodologies, Software Engineering, Requirements Analysis, Programming, and 14 others.

Sandra Walsh (Ph.D.) work experience
A career timeline built from the work history available for this profile.
Journal Selection Expert, Scientific Editor & Peer Reviewer
CurrentThis role involves critically evaluating academic research papers spanning multiple scientific disciplines (e.g. mechanical, civil, chemical, biomedical, electrical, & software engineering) and subsequently recommending the most appropriate journals for publication in the field. In addition, I also work with authors in terms of tweaking their manuscripts including response to reviewer's comments on preliminarily accepted papers and provide multiple round standard (light) to premium level (substantive) editing services to assist authors in getting successfully published in their respective fields.
Search Engine Optimization (Seo) Strategist
This role in SEO involved on-page website analysis, including auditing, strategy building, keyword research, keyword weaving, content editing and restructuring. From the off-site perspective, this includes high-quality link building and digital content marketing primarily for social media channels. The technical SEO perspective involves structured data, site speed, XML sitemaps, canonicalization and device interoperability.
Raspberry Pi Course Coordinator And Curriculum Developer
This role focused on embedded systems development and involves designing and delivering course materials for a series of evening hobby-based Raspberry Pi workshops. The work was aimed at introducing beginners to the Python programming language, and building and testing small electronic projects using the Raspberry Pi.
Founder
As an extension to my doctoral research, this venture further established key links that extend the benefits of Open Space Technology (OST) to service other agile methods and frameworks (e.g. Kanban, Scrum, LeSS, SAFe 4.0) for the purposes of strategically coordinating the input of critical stakeholders on projects. In addition to this, a key finding is in the ability of the OpenXP Framework to engage human resources contributing to the requirements (covering both business and technical teams). This has enabled a truly authentic customer-centric focus to emerge creating a new path to significantly improve the involvement of additional market segments as key contributors to the requirements in agile software development projects.
Book Author
Book Title: The OpenXP Solution for the Strategic Consolidation of Multiple Diverse Perspectives on Agile Software Projects. The OpenXP framework provides the agile business analyst with a practical solution to the strategic consolidation of multiple diverse viewpoints in developing a representative perspective of the overall project goal. Specifically, this novel approach introduces a more participatory elicitation process, extending hands-on support for prioritization, decision making and the provision of an informative workspace including upper level business context needed for developing user stories. The OpenXP framework is a 3-phased solution consisting of 9 specific steps linked with 4 broader facets. Each facet is then responsible for implementing one or more strategic functions that comprise Stakeholder Coordination; Business and IT Alignment; Effective Communication and Adaptability Integration on agile software projects.
Software Developer
This role involved master build checking and the daily/weekly/monthly onsite and offsite backups of software products. Converting existing windows help files for software products into HTML help files compatible for use in the Windows Vista OS. This entailed programming 50 visual C++ projects of the ScadaPro product.
Software Support Technician
In this role I was responsible for software installations, updating systems, troubleshooting and security operations on the campus network.
