About Sandra Whiting
I have 25 years experience working with nonprofit agencies, primarily those directly related to providing housing to the homeless and life skill to at-risk youth. My experience includes budget preparation, analysis of financial statements, tracking restricted funds, preparation of board reports, developing fundraising campaigns and community outreach programs. I am an independent worker, able to handle several projects at once.Eleven years ago, I established my own business as an artist and art instructor. I founded "Sweetwater Creek Farm Studio" as a workshop retreat on Whidbey Island, teaching workshops in handmade books, printmaking and painting. We provide established instructors to teach other mediums, such as photography, basketry, fiber arts and surface design. We offer exciting workshops every weekend throughout the year.In addition to managing the finances for the studio workshops, I am also a professional full charge bookkeeper for various clients on Whidbey Island. My client list includes Whidbey General Hospital Foundation, The Morris Family Foundation, Rob Schouten Gallery and the Andrea Hurst Literary Management Agency.As a board member of "Hearts and Hammers” here on Whidbey Island, I have formed a committee to develop a long range fundraising plan for the agency. I created the "Arts, Hearts & Hammers" fundraiser that was sponsored by The Open Door Gallery from 2008 to 2010. In 2013 I worked with the Rob Schouten Gallery to again develop and execute this fundraiser.
