My book "Say Goodbye To Plastic: A Survival Guide For Plastic-Free Living" is both a memoir as well as a how-to book celebrating the plastic-free lifestyle. It’s a series of vignettes recounting experiences I’ve had that inspired me to embark on my life’s work as a plastic pollution activist and entrepreneur. It shares about my heart-centered approach to inviting people to say goodbye to plastic for whatever reasons motivate them most - whether it’s protecting their own health, our beloved Mother Earth or simply saving some greenbacks by switching from throw-aways to reusables. “Say Goodbye To Plastic” is also a practical guide for readers seeking to reduce their dependence on plastic by starting to weed it out of their homes room by room. Chapters feature easy plastic-free swaps and strategies for every room of the house, such as the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, dining room, office, etc…The foreword, written by Dianna Cohen, the CEO of Plastic Pollution Coalition, gives perspective to the plastic pollution movement and frames it within the current environmental and racial justice movement. Since I was a child, I've been told I have "ink in my blood." What this means to me is that I have always had a passion for giving voice through stories to both people and our planet who need to be heard. Most recently, I have written a book about the plastic pollution crisis called "Say Goodbye To Plastic: A Survival Guide for Plastic-Free Living." Published in 2020 by Hatherleigh Press and distributed by Penguin Random House, the book is partly an inspirational memoir of my experience as a plastic pollution entrepreneur as well as a primer on the origins of the environmental crisis and a guide for individuals seeking to reduce their dependence on plastics at home and beyond. I've loved over my entire career giving voice to people and issues, especially those lesser heard, so that we can build a common understanding of both shared and disparate experience. With a master's degree in investigative journalism, I've always been especially passionate about digging into issues and telling stories "from the bottom up."

My specialty is bottom-up, street-level reporting with global perspective and an investigative approach. My work was published in major newspapers and magazines. I also briefly worked as a public radio journalist in Columbus, Ohio where I reported on the air.

I worked in Danang, Vietnam first as a humanitarian aid volunteer and later as their development director. Together we raised hundreds of millions of dollars and completed scores of impactful projects which included child-infant health and nutrition, village water systems, library, dormitory and hospital constructions, and micro loans for women.

I studied and reported on separatist movement and politics in Spain during lead-up and aftermath of 1992 Olympic Games.
