I'm Sandra Ann Harris, the founder and former president of ECOlunchbox, a mission-driven company dedicated to reducing our reliance on plastics and protecting our oceans. With a fervent passion for ocean conservation, I led ECOlunchbox in innovating and offering high-quality, plastic-free food container solutions for 15 years. ECOlunchbox was a woman-owned certified B Corp and California Green Business committed to making a positive impact on both the environment and society. At ECOlunchbox, we've sold hundreds of thousands of stainless steel and silicone containers worldwide, helping to prevent the use and disposal of tens of millions of pieces of plastic annually. What started as a kitchen table venture in 2008 has grown into a globally recognized social enterprise, resonating with environmentally conscious consumers worldwide. I sold the business in June 2024.In 2020, I authored "Say Goodbye to Plastic: A Survival Guide to Plastic-Free Living," sharing the origin story for the founding of ECOlunchbox as well as insights and practical tips to inspire others to adopt a plastic-free lifestyle. My professional journey spans business consulting, product development, investigative journalism, and digital marketing strategy, as well as nonprofit work with humanitarian aid organizations. This diverse background enriches my approach to sustainability and informs the authentic storytelling behind ECOlunchbox.Specializing in sustainable brand building, authorship, and ambassadorship, I'm deeply involved in the eco-friendly consumer product design space, advocating for ocean conservation and the global movement against plastic pollution. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, I'm passionate about digital marketing, public relations, and crafting authentic narratives for green companies.Beyond my professional endeavors, I find joy in exploring the oceans through sailing and kayaking, immersing myself in nature through backpacking, and nurturing our planet's biodiversity through beekeeping. I'm also drawn to ancient traditions, artisan crafts, and environmental activism, seeking inspiration and connection in every facet of my life.Let's connect and collaborate to create a healthier, more sustainable future for our planet together.

Founder & CeoCircularware Consulting May 2015 - PresentI established CircularWare as a zero-waste consulting firm to support corporations, restaurants, universities, aquariums and other organizations seeking to launch reusable to-go food programs. The days of throw-away, take-out containers are behind us and new innovative food service solutions that are earth friendly and financially advantageous are here.Since 2008 when I founded ECOlunchbox, I have worked as a mission-based entrepreneur on educating, inspiring and empowering individuals and organizations globally to say goodbye to plastic by choosing reusables. Off-the-shelf food containers often don't meet the needs of large organizations, which have specific sizing, washing, tracking and other needs.CircularWare specializes in developing the right fit reusable food container & designing a use program for your campus, catering company, restaurant, environmental education program, university cafe or dining commons, aquarium or natural history museum. We can guide you through a process of building stakeholder engagement, measuring implementation costs as well as calculating the financial and environmental upsides of replacing throw-aways with reusables. -

Book AuthorEcolunchbox Jan 2019 - Feb 2021Lafayette, California, UsMy book "Say Goodbye To Plastic: A Survival Guide For Plastic-Free Living" is both a memoir as well as a how-to book celebrating the plastic-free lifestyle. It’s a series of vignettes recounting experiences I’ve had that inspired me to embark on my life’s work as a plastic pollution activist and entrepreneur. It shares about my heart-centered approach to inviting people to say goodbye to plastic for whatever reasons motivate them most - whether it’s protecting their own health, our beloved Mother Earth or simply saving some greenbacks by switching from throw-aways to reusables. “Say Goodbye To Plastic” is also a practical guide for readers seeking to reduce their dependence on plastic by starting to weed it out of their homes room by room. Chapters feature easy plastic-free swaps and strategies for every room of the house, such as the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, dining room, office, etc…The foreword, written by Dianna Cohen, the CEO of Plastic Pollution Coalition, gives perspective to the plastic pollution movement and frames it within the current environmental and racial justice movement. Published in hardback as well as Kindle in 2020, the book (ISBN 9781578268603) is available at ecolunchboxes.com/book, Amazon, and independent bookstores served by Penguin Random House. -
Author And JournalistNewspapers, Magazines, A Book And Online Publications. Aug 1995 - Jul 2010Since I was a child, I've been told I have "ink in my blood." What this means to me is that I have always had a passion for giving voice through stories to both people and our planet who need to be heard. Most recently, I have written a book about the plastic pollution crisis called "Say Goodbye To Plastic: A Survival Guide for Plastic-Free Living." Published in 2020 by Hatherleigh Press and distributed by Penguin Random House, the book is partly an inspirational memoir of my experience as a plastic pollution entrepreneur as well as a primer on the origins of the environmental crisis and a guide for individuals seeking to reduce their dependence on plastics at home and beyond. I've loved over my entire career giving voice to people and issues, especially those lesser heard, so that we can build a common understanding of both shared and disparate experience. With a master's degree in investigative journalism, I've always been especially passionate about digging into issues and telling stories "from the bottom up."
