Dr. Sandra O. Archibald is Professor and Dean Emerita of the Evans School of Public Policy & Governance at the University of Washington. Archibald is a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration and a non-resident senior fellow at the Volcker Alliance. She is a member of the Advisory Board of Tsinghua University’s School of Public Policy and Management, the University of Washington Evans School of Public Policy and Governance and sits on the the William Ruckelshaus Foundation Board. Archibald is a founding partner of the nonprofit organization Restart Partners. Archibald is the past President of the Association of Public Policy and Management (APPAM). She has held numerous academic and professional appointments at institutions including University of Minnesota Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, Stanford University, United States Environmental Protection Agency, and the Rockefeller Commission on Critical Choices for Americans. Dr. Archibald has served on the advisory boards of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Comptroller General of the Government Accountability Office, and the Evergreen Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) which awarded her a lifetime achievement award. She presently serves as a member of the National Academy of Public Administration’s Nominating and Governance Committee. Dr. Archibald has served on numerous National Research Council committees for the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of Medicine focusing on a variety of environmental policy issues. Dr. Archibald has served as a consultant to the United Nations FAO, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Interior, and numerous other state, national, and international organizations. In 2010 the Governor of the State of Washington named Dr. Archibald as one of three dozen leaders to serve on the Committee on Transforming Washington’s Budget.
