As a physician, I have walked in the shoes of being the patient with a condition that won't kill me, but sure makes everyday life a bit, well, more complicated than I want life to be. I have a disability as a result of an auto-immune arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis) that I have been dealing with for almost 20 years that requires accommodations for my fluctuating physical energy levels. With a compatible fellow clinician, I would not have reservations in time sharing this one full time position. Despite this fluctuating body state, my soul is a curious one, always wanting to learn new things, always wanting to understand how individual parts fit together and maybe devise wily and ingenious ways to address situations. Related to my curious nature is that I enjoy “brainstorming” ideas of how different technologies can be used to improve medical care and patient self empowerment in chronic medical diseases. I would like to point out that in addition to performing the ubiquitous initial psychiatric evaluations, recommending and managing subsequent treatment across the entire spectrum of care in the office, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient hospitalization settings, I am also very interested in empowering patients who have recently diagnosed chronic medical illnesses with education and knowledge of managing the condition and getting the most out of life. In the medical non-clinical setting, I have experience in quality management that spans a little more than 10 years as a member of an active and mindful credentialing committee for a behavioral health company and have presented lectures to resident physicians in the educational setting.In the non-medical setting, I am active in ToastMasters, quite adept at teaching myself to repair/replace broken iPhone screens, refurbish furniture, solder zinc sheet metal... if I am interested, I will learn how to DIY. I also do some art journaling & woodworking.
