Taught QU 201 - Our National Community. I designed the section theme, Identity and Influence, which has the following description:This course studies the American both as an individual and as part of a group. Concepts of identity formation, human nature and motivation for behavior will be viewed from psychological and sociological perspectives and then discussed within the context of national issues. Shifting from that of self to that of belonging to a community, discussion of culture, crowd behavior and motivation to act within the environment of a multicultural society will be scrutinized. From the Japanese internment camps and behavior during a crisis to unemployment and saving the planet, we will examine the perspective and potential of individuals and groups both in reaction and in action.
