Øresunddirekt in Malmö, SwedenMission:Øresunddirekt is an information service that conveys information from public authorities to citizens and businesses in Öresundsregionen (The Greater Copenhagn Area). Our mission is to promote cooperation between authorities and administrators in the region and to provide information mainly to cross-border commuters and businesses. Øresunddirekt consists of an editorial staff in Copenhagen and an information center in central Malmö.The Information Centre Øresunddirekt in Malmö consists of representatives and staff from the Swedish Public Employment Service, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency and the Swedish Tax Agency, The The County Administrative Board of Skåne and The Skåne Regional Council. The agencies provide official information from the Øresund perspective to cross-border commuters and businesses. The County Administrative Board of Skåne is responsible for coordinating Øresunddirekt Malmö.Background: The report "Øresund - en region bliver til" (1999) was the starting point of Øresunddirekt. The report is a Swedish/Danish government report that maps the barriers of the development of the Øresund Region. The report concluded that a continuous barrier to integration in the Øresund Region is communication between citizens, businesses and the public administration.Funding:Skåne Regional Council and the County Administrative Board of Skåne are co-financing the position of the Site Manager/Head of Office of Øresunddirekt in Sweden. In addition to the interacting government agencies and Skåne Regional Council The Nordic Council of Ministers also contributes to the funding.
