For over seven years I worked as part of The Right Hook, one of Ireland's leading drive time talk radio shows presented by George Hook.My responsibilities as a producer included:-Producing The Right Hook and/or co-producing outside broadcasts in various locations.-Managing the programme team, selecting and scheduling the content of the on air show, managing the programme through the preparation stages to co-ordinating and producing the show from the control box, making split second decisions as to the direction of the show on air.-Producing on outside broadcasts in various locations around Ireland and abroad, including the United States and Haiti.-Co-producing special live shows including General Elections, Local Elections, Budget shows, US Presidential Election Results and the US Presidential Inaugration.My brief as reseacher included:-Developing programme ideas, identifying and sourcing the best and most appropriate contributors for these items, contacting, interviewing and scheduling these contributors.-Developing strong contacts with these contributors who disclose on and off the record information & respecting the profiles of the preseneter & guests on the show.-Gathering, analysing, and presenting information in documentation form for briefing.-Responding to breaking news stories by delivering guests on air as the news breaks.-Updating programme website, podcasts and social media outlets.-Managed travel and movie clubs containing 20,000 Right Hook listeners which included the production of travel and movie newsletters.-Mentoring second and third level students taking part in work placements.-Analysing JNLR Listenership figures in monitoring the success of the show and adapting the show accordingly.
