Currently teaching in the Master's in Healthcare Administration program on the Houston, Texas campus. I teach the following courses: Research Methods for Decision Making, Population Health, Performance and Quality, Health Policy Analysis, and Human Resources Management in Healthcare. I also serve as the Internship Coordinator for the program.

Developed the HCPH Community Health Improvement Plan to earn accreditation. Worked with community organizations across sectors to identify health needs, priorities, and develop a 5-year action plan to improve community health outcomes related to common priorities.

I built the Healthcare Transformation Initiatives department in order to implement, monitor, and evaluate healthcare transformation projects for UTHealth. I planned and wrote the projects submitted to Texas Health and Human Services Commission for funding under two different mechanisms: the Texas Transformation Medicaid 1115 Waiver Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment {DSRIP) program and the Network Access Improvement Program (NAIP). I planned and wrote the projects submitted to Texas Health and Human Services Commission for funding under two different mechanisms: the Texas Transformation Medicaid 1115 Waiver Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment {DSRIP) program and the Network Access Improvement Program (NAIP). I hired, trained, and managed 24 project managers and supporting staff to implement 43 projects (valued at over $300 million), achieving a milestone completion rate over 40 percentage points higher than the State average. Over 90% of the projects implemented were community-based primary and preventive care projects and have been very successful at reaching the community. For example, as of March 31, 2016, we had served 76,683 individuals through 11 of our DSRIP projects and provided 394,284 patient encounters through 11 other DSRIP projects. Show less

Initially, I managed several grant-supported health intervention projects in the Division of Health Promotion and Prevention. I then took over management of the Center for Biosecurity and Public Health Preparedness, which was supported by a number of public health preparedness grants and projects. I also planned the evaluation for the Southwest Center for Occupational and Environmental Health and conducted a regional health needs assessment for the UT Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.

Provided consulting services for the evaluation activities of the consortium.

Provided instruction for health department personnel on how to plan and evaluate a program on preconception health being sponsored by Waste Management. Guided the department on planning and implementing the evaluation.

Taught the American Culture class.

Assisted in the teaching of several anthropology classes.

I worked with the software developers to ensure that the product met the needs of the intellectual property attorneys, the Information Management group implementing the infrastructure, and the users.
