About Sandra Macaulay Leon-Barth

Student-focused and customer-service oriented professional with 20 years experience in Higher Education, combined with Marketing industry experience. Experienced instructor, program coordinator, relationship builder, leveraging established partnerships with UCF faculty, local and nationwide employers, community partners, student organizations and university departments in the effort to create and maintain excellent professional learning opportunities for students to apply theory to practice.Faculty Bio -Sandra Macaulay Leon-Barth holds a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations and a Master of Arts in Mass Communication, from The University of Central Florida, and a Diploma from Universidad Pontificia De Salamanca in Cursos Internacionales de Lengua y Cultura Espanolas. She joined the Experiential Learning (EL) faculty, assisting students with the process of finding rewarding and relevant internship or co-op experience and instructing business internship courses. During this time she coordinated and managed the biannual EL Internship & Co-op fair. Within the past four years she has been assigned as liaison to the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) and CREOL, where she serves on the CECS EL Advisory Board, the NSF FLIT-PATH Grant program committee, and the Career Source Central Florida/UCF Grant team, which provides paid internship experience to graduating CECS students with financial need. She serves on the committee that coordinates the annual Women in STEM event, which includes a keynote speaker and three concurrent sessions for various STEM disciplines, encompassing panels of female leaders in these careers.In support of EID at UCF, Sandra partners with the CECS Office of Diversity and Inclusion and Career Services to provide internship guidance and connection to key employers through planned company info sessions to program participants. She also serves on the SLAS EID Workgroup committee, helping to further the mission of a more equitable educational experience for all.She participated in a Fulbright Hays experience to Argentina (2022) in order to immerse in the culture and foster opportunities for internship and exchange for UCF students. She instructs the STEM Explorations Career Planning course (MHS 2330) in Fall for freshmen, and is certified as an Experiential Learning practitioner by the Experiential Education Academy, offered by NSEE. She received an honorary induction into Alpha Kappa Psi Professional fraternity, is a member of CEIA and CIEC, and is faculty advisor to The Caribbean Student Association.
