Works with students, families and professors to ensure that students are job ready and are eligible for internships and/or employment at graduation. Develop existing and new relationships with Houston-area employers, increasing their knowledge of and willingness to employ VAST graduates and other individuals with disabilities. Conducts vocational evaluations and worksite evaluations to ensure that students are connected to the appropriate worksite. Makes recommendations for adaptive aids and/or assistive technology services to determine worksite accommodations. Provides direct Job Placement services to students at the completion of a successful internship. Works with the job placement departments at each campus to expand opportunities for employment for HCC alumni. Presents at local and national conferences on disability employment issues. Teaches workforce development courses at Central and Southwest Campuses. Show less
