About Sandra (Salomonsen) Reilly
In my 10 years of teaching, I have served at the elementary, middle, and high school settings. This has provided me with the opportunity to experience teaching research, literacy, and information skills at every K through 12 grade level. These experiences have allowed me to see the "bigger picture" of where students have been and where they can be throughout their education. I use this knowledge in my current position and as the Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 librarians' consortium regional director, providing professional development to academic, public, and school librarians in three eastern PA counties.I am a member of the American Library Association (ALA), the American Association of School Librarians, and the Pennsylvania School Librarian Association (PSLA). Through PSLA, I have helped facilitate state-wide professional development, served as a mentor to school librarians as part of PSLA and the University of Pittsburgh's collaborative Leaders academies, served as the organization's Board Treasurer, and I currently serve as the Conference Committee co-registrar.I obtained my ALA-accredited Master in Library and Information Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012. I received a Master in Professional and Secondary Education degree from East Stroudsburg University in 2022. I not only learned more about educational pedagogy -- particularly in relation to equity, diversity, and critical relevance -- but I also worked as a graduate research assistant to Dr. Stephanie McCall, researching intersectional feminist theory and critical pedagogy to create a Humanities curriculum for an all-girls' charter school in Kansas City.Prior to my career shift into teaching, I worked as a Community Relations Manager for Barnes & Noble Booksellers. I worked with schools to provide curricular materials and coordinate book fair fundraisers. I also facilitated many in-store author signings, some of which included high-profile authors and received media coverage.
Listed skills include Public Relations, Fundraising, Editing, Nonprofits, and 19 others.
