Sandro Wiggerich is First Deputy Mayor (Erster Beigeordneter) of the City of Unna. His portfolio comprises the departments for organization; IT; environment; culture and continuing education; schools; social welfare, housing, demography, and integration; youth and family; and sports. In this role he is responsible for important strategic agendas, including the integrated climate action plan, the municipal heat supply planning, the cultural development process, the school development planning, and, as Chief Digital Officer (CDO), the city's digitization strategy.Sandro's prior experience includes working in the regional government (Bezirksregierung) of Münster, where he led the economic response to the COVID-10 outbreak, and as an associate lawyer at leading international law firms Clifford Chance and Eversheds Sutherland, where he advised national and international clients on all aspects of general corporate law and M&A with a special focus on the energy and infrastructure sectors and regulatory issues.Before going into legal practice, Sandro worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Münster‘s Faculty of Law and as Manager of the University‘s interdisciplinary Centre for Textual Scholarship and Commentation (ZeTeK). He has taught courses on German private law, theory and methods in legal history, and theory of legal scholarship at the University of Münster and at the German Federal University of Applied Administrative Sciences.Sandro holds a Second State Examination in Law (LJPA Düsseldorf, 2015) and is a graduate of the University of Oxford (MJur 2017) as well as the University of Münster's Faculty of Philosophy (MA 2014; studies in philosophy, early modern and contemporary history, art history, and political science) and Faculty of Law (First State Examination in Law, Diplom-Jurist degree 2009/2010).
