Care for the team shows through tactful encouragement to draw out the best in others.Until recently, as Features and Non-Dailies Editor, I managed content for the Sunday features section, Community pages four days a week, and weekly Health (Monday), Food (Wednesday) and GO! (entertainment, Thursday) feature pages for the Wausau Daily Herald Media. I also managed content for the weekly Everest Herald tabloid, oversaw weekly Merrill Focus and Community "wraps"​, and coordinated quarterly Senior Living and Hmong Connection tabloid sections. I was the editor of YOU magazine, published six times a year. I assigned stories and photos, managed news assistants, proofread and/or edited contributions from community sources and reporters, and worked long-distance with a team of page designers who put all these publications together.Previously I was a substitute teacher, including long-term in English, reading, library, nutrition, sewing and middle grades. I made it my job to fulfill the teacher's lesson plans for the day while maintaining a positive attitude to encourage students to cooperate. During long-term assignments, I wrote lesson plans and evaluated student work, and worked collaboratively with regular teachers, both those in neighboring classrooms and with the teacher whose students I taught.For a stretch of time, I "worked at home for hugs."​ Through these years of raising my children, I developed such skills as adapting to changing conditions, thinking "on the spot," encouraging desirable behavior, listening while trying not to judge, and creatively using what was at hand to produce a desired product (whether dinner, costume or other project).I think a perfect day would involve conveying information, emotions and faith stories through fiber art and words.
