Play Partners Maine is an independent private practice specializing in family-centered, relationship-based services for children up to age 12 with developmental and learning challenges that incorporates the DIRFloortime® model and other complementary methods. We offer Floortime™ play therapy sessions, coaching and consultation, and facilitated play dates and play groups to help families promote their child's learning and growth, foster warm and attuned relationships, and address behavioral challenges and other issues that affect day to day life.My background:I bring over 40 years of experience as a special educator to my practice, first as a teacher and early interventionist providing direct services to children with a wide range of special needs, and later teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate students in early childhood special education. My work is strongly rooted in the importance of relationships and emotionally charged interactions for developmental growth which is at the heart of DIRFloortime®, an evidence-based comprehensive developmental model. I value play as the work of children and the great integrator of all aspects of child development. Services for Families: Developmental therapy, coaching, and consultation services incorporating the DIRFloortime® model for families of children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental challenges in Maine and New Hampshire. Services for Schools and Agencies:Coaching, consultation and in-service training services to increase the capacity of staff to integrate effective relationship-based practices, facilitate collaborative problem solving, and address complex issues in children. Inservice training on a variety of topics such as supporting children's play, fostering social skills, facilitating self-regulation, addressing challenging behavior, as well as introductory trainings on the DIR®/Floortime™ model.
