I’m currently completing a PhD in Genetics within the Jiggins Lab in the Department of Genetics, Cambridge. Recently I’ve been working on a variety of projects: - I launched the Cambridge Biosecurity Hub (CBH), which has brought together a team of researchers to investigate risks associated with pandemics and rapidly developing biotechnologies. In addition to object-level research, we're also working to funnel early-career researchers into impactful research streams within Biosecurity. (see: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cambridge-biosecurity-hub/) - I recently finished a research fellowship with the Existential Risk Alliance (ERA), where I built the Global Catastrophic Biological Risk (GCBR) Index. The index attempts to quantify each country's contribution to bio-risk. - I helped to start Blue Carbon Services (https://bluecarbon.co.nz), a not-for-profit focused on developing kelp-derived carbon sequestration technology and sustainable food. While I’m now spending most of my time working on my PhD, and exploring my new European surroundings, I still help out here and there on a few projects.
