Sandy is currently the Vice President, Patient Care and Risk Management for St. Joseph's Health Care London. In this role, Sandy provides executive leadership to the clinical operations at Parkwood Institute Main Building and Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, as well as Corporate Risk Management, Privacy and Patient Relations. Prior to joining St. Joseph's, Sandy was the President and and CEO of Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital and Alexandra Hospital Ingersoll where she was responsible for leading the day to day operations of the hospitals; establishing systems for assuring that high quality care; assuring sound fiscal operation of the hospitals; ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies; and ensuring optimal fulfillment of the hospitals' mission, philosophies, and strategic plan to support the care needs of the communities served. A Clinical Pharmacist by training, Sandy has spent over 25 years in a variety of challenging roles in healthcare taking on progressively more complex leadership roles. In 2009, Sandy established the new Department of Clinical Informatics at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and St. Joseph's Health Care. This department grew to 20 FTE's over the 2 years Sandy was Director. In 2011, Sandy was appointed the Director of Pharmacy Services at LHSC. During her term as Director of Pharmacy, she championed many transformative initiatives including implementing 7/24 pharmacy services, as well as the implementation of the electronic health record. She served in a lead role for LHSC in responding to critical drug shortages and the chemotherapy under dosing incident. She is regarded as a provincial resource and expert in these areas and has been a strong participant with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) and their move to regulate hospital pharmacies. In 2016, Sandy was appointed to the role of Director of Quality and Patient Safety at LHSC. Sandy was responsible to ensure a focused, relentless and standardized approach to improving quality and safety and consistency of care and the patient experience across LHSC. She developed strategic and operational plans that assure the organization continues to be innovative and recognized nationally for its approaches to patient safety and experience.
