Sandy Leo is an environmentalist and conservationist with expertise in sustainable development, landscape conservation, ecosystem services, wildlife conservation, Indigenous people and local communities in Indonesia, and climate change. Since 2015, he has conducted projects in Indonesia's forests, mainly in Sumatra, Java, and Kalimantan. Leo was named a National Geographic Young Explorer in 2017 for his research on herpetofauna in the Sumatra peatland ecosystem. After graduating with a bachelor's degree from the Department of Biology at the University of Indonesia in 2016, Leo worked on various projects conducting surveys on Indonesian biodiversity (i.e., primates, herpetofauna, and insects). He graduated with a Master of Science from the School of Environmental Science at the University of Indonesia in 2021. He loves travel, sports, and photography. He's willing to collaborate with every stakeholder who has the same dream and effort to save Indonesia's forests and environment for future generations and also to boost his experiences and enhance his career in the future.
