FIFO aboard the Aburri in the Gulf of Carpenteria. Maintain ships systems and carry out planned and breakdown maintenance. Along with the mechanical duties I was also responsible for carrying out ships husbandry. Aboard the ship was a large conveyor system which required regular maintenance and monitoring. Duties also included handling ships lines when berthing, filling of water tanks and connecting sullage/water/shore power connections.

Maintain Armidale Class Patrol Boats for maximum possible days at sea. Complete Work Order cards and reports on equipment. Order parts from stores and source parts as required. Fault find and identify root cause of breakdowns. Planned and break down maintenance on all ships systems including but not limited to - Grey & Black Water, Fresh Water, Fuel Purifiers and Pumps, Marine Growth Protection, Reverse Osmosis, Steering & Hydraulic, Fire Fighting and Stabiliser Systems. Also carried out Propeller & Shaft repairs/change out, alignment.
