I have been with the City of San Marcos since 2000 and have seen a lot of changes. From a town of 24000, to over 50,000. I started in Utility Billing, and after one year i was hired as the Parks and Recreation Administrative Assistant. From answering phones to registering families for sports and travel trips, it was always a fun job. In 2015, we went from Oracle to Tyler Financial, i wanted to learn the system and I did. I started paying all the facility bills, coding P-cards for the department, and slowly moved out of Parks to General Services, Facilities, then we were moved into the Public Works Department. I still do all the payments for facility issues and code the purchase cards for the department. I am now in charge of the Facility Budget, to include Capital Improvement Projects and Capital Outlay purchases. I interact with numerous vendors from registering as a vendor, contacting them to do certain facility repairs, and making sure that they are paid. I recently was classified as the Contract Coordinator where it is my responsibility for keeping the facility contracts up to date and fully funded. I do assist the Fleet with there contracts too, but they only have a few at this time. I am in the process of adding more contracts to the department. We have over 50 facilities, city staff are in 25 of those buildings.

Working in Public Works, Facilities is a demanding job, not only do we have to keep on top of what is wrong we need to get it fixed now. I am in charge of the Tyler Munis Work Order Management System, I assisted with the implementation of the program and now I am in charge of converting Service Requests into Work Orders. Assign to staff, and complete the work orders, by adding time and labor, outsourcing and supplies. I am over all the contracts for the Facilities, Pest Control, Security, Maintenance, Janitorial and more. I do the budget, change orders, and make sure that the work is getting done in a timely manner. I also take care of the finances, from requisitions to PO's to making the payments.
