During my 35 years in the flooring industry I have gained vast experience across all aspects of the flooring industry. My first 29 years were at Smoothedge SA (Pty) Ltd. During my time at Smoothedge SA (Pty) Ltd I progressed from working as a Sales Representative to a Sales Manager and finally National Sales Manager. This array of positions and time in the industry gave me a wealth of knowledge in the the business, marketing, sales and technical aspects of the industry. It also allowed me time to build up a relationship with the main contractors and key clients in the industry and to earn their respect and trust..Five and a half years ago I moved to Polyflor who head hunted me to be their Sales Director. My time at Polyflor has been an incredible journey within the vinyl flooring industry. I have been very fortunate to have had the most well respected and knowledgeable people give me a head start and allow me to grow to where I am today. The relationships built at Polyflor and and within the flooring industry have been very rewarding and hopefully will continue to grow. I have been privileged enough to work with some of the industries most influential key clients including Group 5, Ruwacon, Buildia, Aveng Grinaker, Netcare, Medi-Clinic, Life, Arwyp, the Department of Public Works, the Department of Education and many of the top architectural firms throughout South Africa.

I learnt the value of collaborative team work, global vision and key client relationships. Fifteen years in this position allowed me to solidify my skill set as a National Sales Manager and to develop wide industry knowledge and many important key client relationships.

During the 5 years that I fulfilled this position I was tasked with for leading and guiding a team of sales staff. My responsibilities included assigning sales territories, setting quotas, mentoring the members of the sales team, assigning sales training, building a sales plan and recruiting sales staff. I was also responsible for ensuring that sales staff met targets and quotas.Whilst in this position I learnt the skills of managing staff, viewing sales from the big picture and leading by example.
