About Sandy Murray
Sandy has over 30 years' experience as an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and is currently an educator at the School of Health Science, University of Tasmania (UTAS) in Launceston Tasmania. Sandy also co-facilitates the UTAS Sustainable Food Systems working group and supported the development of the UTAS Healthy Sustainable and Equitable Food Strategic Plan. She was acknowledged for her work in sustainable food systems by being awarded an ACTS Australasia Green Gowns award winner for excellence in 2020. Sandy is currently undertaking a PHD part time, exploring food justice, advocating for community participation and the empowerment of diverse voices in the quest for a more socially just food system.Sandy has previously worked in a range of settings including private practice, public health nutrition, community health, health promotion and food industry, with my responsibilities ranging from food regulation (claims substantiation), business planning, product development, nutrition marketing through to health professional education.
