About Sandra Nash

I am the Executive Director of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Inc. The Law Enforcement, on a global level, has selected Special Olympics as their charity of choice. Law enforcement officers and volunteers dedicate their time to raise awareness and resources for their local Special Olympics athletes and programs. My role as Executive Director is to serve as the key liaison between the LETR Executive for Council and the Special Olympics global movement. I previously spent 15 years at Special Olympics Illinois in a variety of development positions. During that time, I had the opportunity to serve as co-chair of the LETR for the Special Olympics 50th Anniversary Celebration in Chicago, IL as well as coordinate the Eternal Flame Lighting ceremony for the Special Olympics United States Games 2022. Additional background about me:-I began my career as a Public Policy fellow with the State of Illinois with a focus on Education. During this time, I became very familiar with the Illinois legislative process. -My non-profit career has included a variety of special event planning and management. Including large-scale single location events, i.e. Plane Pull or Gala, and multi-state or location fundraising initiatives, i.e. Cop on a Rooftop or Polar Plunges. -I am a relationship manager and enjoy the opportunity to get to know new people. -I have a passion for leaving the world better than I found it. I am driven by a deep need to be catalyst for positive change.

The Final Leg is a team of 100+ law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes from around the world who will carry the Flame of Hope across Italy, culminating with the lighting of the cauldron at the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games. The Final Leg is a symbol of courage, hope, and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities.
