Special Educator-Deaf And Hard Of Hearing
CurrentAs a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, I have taught multiple subjects in preschool, kindergarten, 4th, 5th and 6th grades. These subjects included Reading, Written English, Math, Social Studies, Science, Deaf Culture, and Physical Education. I prepare and create lessons geared toward the DHH student with mild to severe language development, execute and engage the lessons with students, guide the paraprofessional in executing supplemental lessons, manage classroom behaviors of DHH students with or without additional needs (ADHD, Autism, etc.), spearhead and plan Deaf Awareness Week (DAW), develop and write IEP goals and objectives, attend/manage IEP meetings, and collaborate with outside agencies to provide extra interventions that develop the students' language development (Deaf West Theater). In addition, I managed the scheduling and professional development of Sign Interpreters who work in the mainstream classrooms as well as provided workshops for administrators, mainstream teachers, para professionals and sign interpreters.
