Managing a team of Public Health Inspectors is a challenge that I thoroughly enjoy. The fast pace and often unpredictable nature of our work in environmental health protection, whether it be education or enforcement, keeps me engaged and enthusiastic. My team are fantastic - professional and competent - which contributes to my success.Predicting program, logistical and staff needs, anticipating potential legal challenges and ensuring the health of the public is protected are particular areas of strength for me. I enjoy working through a problem, envisioning and researching potential outcomes as scenarios are explored. Often in this field, particularly when an emergency strikes, I do not have the luxury of time to research the perfect solution. This is where the expertise of my team, my co-workers, and my previous experience gathering and rapidly assimilating information to produce a quick decision comes into play. As a Public Health Inspector, risk assessment and risk mitigation become second nature, as decisions impacting the health of many must often be made on-the-spot. It is what we do, and I do it well.
