As Production Manager I am responsible for performing various administrative functions for KCPT, Flatland. This position will project manage multiple projects across departments, and will need strong organizational and prioritization skill as well as provide comprehensive, confidential support and assistance to the Chief Operating Officer. This role involves both creative and practical work.

The Operations Coordinator works in tandem with the Chief Technical Officer providing oversight of the stations operations, building maintenance, IT, traffic and engineering departments. Primary responsibilities include scheduling, FCC reporting, vendor relations, customer service and liaison for the Community Advisory Board. Additional routines include systems back-up, intern mentorship, human resource support and station tours. I serve as the leading advocate for the organizations green, eco-friendly sustainability efforts as the Lead of the Green Team.

For the first 2 years of this position I was also still producing and editing video. In fact I was nominated for a series I did on suicide at this time. But my primary responsibilities included customer service, FCC reporting, and handling visitors. In my role of HR Assistant I helped coordinate interviews, did all of the follow up paperwork including reporting for the CPB and FCC. I also scheduled and lead most of the stations tours.

As a video writer / producer / editor at KCPT I created many forms of video. I worked with outside clients on marketing pieces, training videos. Created several series of videos for television. I worked with others to create concepts, scheduled crew, equipment and interviews, directed the shooting and then did all the editing after production. The series I am most proud of include Uniquely Kansas City (4 - 1 hour shows about the arts in KC done in 2009) and the suicide series (4 - 7 min pieces about the topic of suicide) for which I was nominated for a regional emmy. During this time I was also the Pledge producer for 3 years.

As the festival coordinator I worked with the President of the group to produce the festival event itself. Oversaw and coordinated ticketing and the venues. Took care of any issues that arose once the festival began.

I began at VPR as an intern. In 2 years I had worked my way into being a video producer. I had worked in theater leading up to video and many of my skills in costuming, props, set building and tech translated to video work. That is what I did before becoming a video producer. While a video producer I coordinated and scheduled crews and shoots. I took a script and created a shooting schedule. In time I wrote my own scripts.
