Sandy Wright is the Co-Founder of Wright & Wright Architects, an award-winning architecture firm in London with a diverse portfolio of projects dating back three decades. Wright & Wright is particularly regarded for its expertise in creating beautiful, durable, low-energy buildings and the design of archives, libraries and galleries for clients in the education and culture sectors.A graduate of the Mackintosh School of Architecture at the Glasgow School of Art, Sandy studied under Isi Metzstein, whom he went on to work for at Gillespie Kidd + Coia. His early projects, including Robinson College at the University of Cambridge, informed an expertise in design and detailing as well as fluent understanding of how buildings are put together, foci which have influenced his practice ever since. He was later made Partner with Sir Richard MacCormac at MJPW while serving as Partner-in-Charge of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Bristol and Blue Boar Court at Trinity College, Cambridge.Since founding Wright & Wright Architects in 1994, Sandy has steered several prestigious, award-winning projects and masterplans. Early projects include the library for London's Royal College of Art, the Women's Library in London, the RIBA Reading Rooms at the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Taylor Library at Corpus Christi College, the National Gallery's lower galleries, and the Longwall Library at Magdalen College, Oxford.Committed to the continual development of the profession and sector, Sandy has lectured and reviewed at over 20 schools of architecture. He served as a visiting critic at the Mackintosh School of Architecture and a Visiting Professor at Newcastle University. He has been an external examiner for three architecture schools and a competitions assessor for both the RIBA and the RIAS.Most recent projects include St Johns College, Oxford Libraries and Study Centre, Lambeth Palace Library,Corpus Christi College, Oxford - Spencer Library and British Museum Energy Centre.
