Systems Improvement Advisor, Built For Zero State Initiatives
CurrentHomelessness is a solvable problem that has lost its sense of urgency. 'Built for Zero' is a national movement designed to help a network of over 100 committed US communities measurably and equitably end homelessness. In this position, I'm on a team of two, managing a growing portfolio of state-level Built for Zero partnerships. Our primary objective is to work with our partnering state leaders to adopt key components of a replicable model for how we believe state governments can effectively lead continuous system improvement to achieve the result everyone wants: population-level reductions in active homelessness. Some of my key roles & responsibilities include: • Design, implement and manage state initiatives to accelerate population-level homelessness reductions, centering equity & inclusion, strategic planning, data infrastructure, and partner capability building• Advise and facilitate cross-sector work groups to apply collective impact and collaborative improvement practices to measurably reduce population-level homelessness• Assess the performance of local homeless prevention & response systems to identify key leverage points, help executive groups develop improvement strategies, and develop monitoring & evaluation plans, with a particular focus on racial equitable outcomes.• Develop and deliver communication materials to help galvanize local coalitions to engage and take action• Manage relationships with external partners and internal collaborators to advance complex projects• Design and implement ‘learning systems’ for community-to-state knowledge sharing and problem solving• Onboard and coach a unique cohort of state-level leaders to become effective “place-based coaches”• Collaboratively set and evaluate (internal) team-level strategic aims, key performance indicators, and work plans in a complex, matrixed organization
